Playing for the Puerto Rico National Team Changed my Life
I would hate to give you the everyday story on how hard I had it growing up so I'll leave that alone. Till this day, I still can't believe I represented the Puerto Rico National team for the last three years. The experience I had with the players and staff, people I consider family, are memories I will never forget. I have had random people tell me they love me; I have had people tell me I don't belong on the team. Honestly, I don't care. I'm just glad that I made my grandparents proud of me. I represented not only Puerto Rico, but I represented my Grandparent's name "Clemente".
If you would have told me ten years ago I'll be wearing a Puerto Rico National Team jersey, I would have called you a liar. I don't know what the future holds, but there is no doubt I would love to try to represent the island again. I don't know what goes on behind the scenes. I just know to step on that floor and play my ass off. That's it. Hopefully when I get to Puerto Rico this upcoming summer, I'll have my Spanish down pact.
Just wanted to let you guys know I'm so grateful for you accepting me. I know I wasn't born on the Island but I sincerely love my roots and culture. As a kid, I was never apart of anything. Right now I feel like I'm apart of something that will last forever and that's being a Puerto Rican. Once again I really appreciate the love and acceptance.
I'm busy working on my blog posts. Watch this space!
